In this post, I’m opening up my kit to share key items inside, why it matters, and how it’s helped me handle wedding day curveballs like a pro.

Introduction

Wedding days are magical—but they don’t always go exactly as planned. That’s where a well-stocked emergency kit comes in. As a wedding planner, I never show up to a venue without mine. It's saved the day more times than I can count—from last-minute stains to broken zippers and blistered feet.

What Is a Wedding Planner Emergency Kit?

Think of it as your behind-the-scenes lifesaver. It’s a collection of tools, supplies, and quick fixes to handle any minor (or major!) issue that might pop up during a wedding. It keeps the day running smoothly and the couple stress-free.

Top items in My Emergency Kit (and Why)

Beauty & Grooming

  • Hairspray, bobby pins, hair ties – flyaways happen.

  • Blotting papers & face powder – to keep that flawless bridal glow.

  • Clear nail polish – great for stocking runs or last-minute chip fixes.

  • Tweezers, nail file, mini scissors – trust me, they get used.

  • Lotion - nobody wants flaky or irritated skin all day

  • Kleenex - there. will. be. tears

Wardrobe Fixes

  • Fashion tape, safety pins, sewing kit – wardrobe malfunctions are real.

  • Stain remover pen – wine, makeup, or grass stains.

  • Lint roller – especially helpful for groomsmen in dark suits.

Health & Wellness

  • Pain relievers, antacids, allergy meds – for last-minute headaches or tummy troubles.

  • Bandaids and blister pads – because new shoes + nerves = pain.

  • Eye drops and breath mints – for fresh photos and fresh breath.

Tools & Miscellaneous

  • Super glue and floral wire – you’d be amazed how often this comes in handy.

  • Phone chargers & portable batteries – dead phones are a no-go.

  • Mini vacuum – for those dessert table crumbs.

  • Snacks and bottled water – for the couple and for you.

  • Scissors - loose thread on dresses or linens.. snip snip.

Real Moments When My Kit Saved the Day

-When the bride was worried the best man might lose or drop the rings, we placed them in one of my mesh drawstring bags. It fit securely in his pocket and gave him peace of mind knowing they were safe.

-When the groom’s mom ripped a seam in her dress, my mini sewing kit came to the rescue—quickly stitching it up so she could enjoy the rest of the day without worry.

-When a bridesmaid was stung by a bee, we used the first aid kit to treat her, then made a quick ice pack using a Ziplock bag and some ice to reduce the swelling—just in time for her walk down the aisle.

Tips for Building Your Own Kit

  • Keep everything organized in clear pouches or bins. - know exactly what you have

  • Restock for each event—especially items like meds and mints.

  • Customize based on your typical weddings (outdoor vs indoor, summer vs winter, etc.).

Final Thoughts

An emergency kit isn’t just about being prepared—it’s about providing peace of mind. The best planners aren’t just creative—they’re calm, quick-thinking, and always one step ahead. This kit is one of my secret weapons for delivering a smooth, joyful wedding day.
