The Journey That Led Me to Wedding Planning

It all started with a dress and became SO much more.

Hi there! It’s your girl Summer, and today I want to share a little more about how I found my way into wedding planning—and why I care so deeply about creating unforgettable experiences for every couple I work with (and let’s be honest, their families and loved ones too).

Like many love stories, mine started in an unexpected way: in a bridal salon. I spent my early career helping brides find the dress of their dreams—and I absolutely loved it. There’s something incredibly special about being part of that “yes to the dress” moment, but what really captured my heart was everything surrounding it. The emotion. The excitement. The pressure. The desire to feel seen and understood. I started to realize that my favorite part of the job wasn’t just the fashion—it was guiding brides through a meaningful moment and helping them feel calm and confident.

Then came my own wedding.

Planning it opened up a whole new world for me. I found myself energized by the details—coordinating timelines, choosing vendors, building out our vision. It was a process I truly loved, and it gave me an even deeper appreciation for how personal, emotional, and overwhelming wedding planning can be. It also revealed something important: that I had the organization, creativity, and compassion to support others through this journey.

I remember when my sisters and I hired wedding planners, we expected them to be a calming presence and a reliable guide if anything went wrong. Unfortunately, we all experienced teams that felt impersonal and added more stress than support. That’s when I realized I wanted to be the kind of planner who truly eases the burden and brings peace of mind to couples and their loved ones.

After helping friends and family with their weddings, it became clear—this wasn’t just a hobby. This was my calling.

That’s how Events with Summer was born: from a genuine love of weddings, and a desire to help others feel supported and celebrated through every step of their planning journey. Whether I’m finding the perfect venue, building a timeline, or simply listening to your vision, I bring my full heart to every wedding I plan.
